Functional Industries receives 2010 Johnson & Johnson Dartmouth Achievement Award
September 23, 2010 — Functional Industries has been participating in the Johnson & Johnson Dartmouth Community Mental Health Program since 2006. This program uses the model of Individual Placement and Support to assist persons experiencing mental health issues in obtaining competitive employment. Each year a maximum of two awards are given to participating agencies from across the United States. Functional Industries received the award for Most Significant Improvement and High Number of People Working in Competitive Employment. Functional Industries, in collaboration with Central Minnesota Mental Health Center, Wright County Human Services and Vocational Rehabilitation Services accepted the award at the annual conference held in St. Paul, Minnesota on May 4th. Tony Gantenbein of the Department of Employment and Economic Development, stated "The leadership of the partner agencies all work together to support the employment staff to make the dream of employment a reality for the people they serve in Wright County, Minnesota."
When asked to share with Dartmouth College a recent success story, Functional Industries shared the story of a local client and her employment specialist. The article tells of a breakdown and struggle the client faced when pursuing employment while suffering from schizoaffective disorder.
